Does FEMA Hire People With Felony Record?

What Is The Hiring Process at FEMA?

FEMA’s hiring process has three distinct phases: the application, examination, and interview phases.

You must complete each step before you can advance to the next step. The complete hiring process takes approximately two months or longer, depending on how quickly you can move through each phase.

1: Application Phase

You must apply online for specific positions within FEMA. If a recruiter selects your resume, they will contact you via email or phone with instructions about what to do next.

If you are moving on to the interview phase, you will most likely have a phone interview first, and then they may send you to come in for an in-person interview.

2: Examination Phase

If you pass through this phase, FEMA will mail your application to the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) USAJobs to have a background investigation done on you.

You will not be able to continue to the next phase of the hiring process until it is completed.
Once OPM has finished their investigation, they will mail your results back to FEMA, and you’ll have a phone interview with a recruiter or get an email from them about what to do next if you’ve passed the background test.

3: Interview Phase

If you pass through this phase, you will receive an invitation for a pre-placement interview with FEMA. You may be asked to come in for another interview after that.

If you are moving on to the testing phase, you must take and pass the computer-based Ability Test.

Can a felon work at FEMA?
There is no history that FEMA hiring felons. So as a convicted felon, you may not work at FEMA.
